Romanian man faces possible deportation after creating a scene in Bali villa
A Romanian national was kicked out of his villa in Seminyak, Bali after failing to pay his monthly rent this week. He has since loitered around the area without a place to stay, with officials now saying that the foreigner is at risk of being deported from Indonesia.
“In terms of his immigration documents, his is complete. But he violated a local regulation, so he faces possible deportation and right now he’s currently detained,” I Putu Surya Dharma, a spokesman from the regional office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, said.
The foreigner, a 41-year-old Romanian man identified by his initials AS, was apprehended by officers from the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) in Badung regency yesterday for alleged disruption of public order.
According to reports, the owner of the villa he had been staying at reported him to local authorities because he created a scene upon being kicked out yesterday evening.
“He was asked to vacate his room by the management because his stay has ended. But he threw his luggage to the pool and created a scene, making other guests at the accommodation uncomfortable,” Surya explained.
AS has not paid rent in the past month, with local reports claiming that none of his friends are willing to help him out because they’ve helped cover his rent before. After he was kicked out from his villa, AS reportedly wandered around without a place to stay as he had run out of money. He was then apprehended by Satpol PP officers and taken to Immigration.
Satpol PP apprehended him on the basis of a 2016 regulation issued by Badung regent on public order, which prohibits vagrancy or loitering.
I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara, who heads Satpol PP Badung, said that AS was supposed to return to his home country yesterday, but changed his mind and decided to stay.
“Maybe he likes living here in Bali,” Suryanegara said.
