Police arrest Bali man for alleged domestic violence in North Kuta
Police confirmed that a 39-year-old man, identified by his initials PS, was arrested this week for alleged physical abuse towards his wife.
I Ketut Oka Bawa, spokesman for Badung Police, told Detik today that the couple has not been living in the same house.
It seems that their kid, who local media identified as IA, was living with PS when the incident took place.
The incident took place when the wife and victim, identified as 37-year-old IA PD, went to PS’ house to see IA, who was reportedly sick at the time, but had been refused and sent away. She insisted, however, and PS reacted by strangling and slapping her.
“The husband strangled the victim, pulled her hair and even slapped her head … He was angry because she came by the house,” Bawa said.
PD then reported the incident to the Badung Police, and PS was arrested on Wednesday in North Kuta. Under Indonesia’s 2004 Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
