A woman, who has been identified by her initials NPY, was found dead on Monday at an hourly motel in western Denpasar, hours after checking in with an unidentified man. Staff at the motel found her body with a towel tied around her mouth.

“We did find a female corpse … but we are still investigating whether she died from natural causes or because she was murdered,” HA Muh Nurul Yaqin told reporters yesterday, as quoted by Detik.

Yaqin said that NPY, who was 39, arrived with a man to Penginapan Teduh Ayu 2 at 6pm on Monday. The man later left the motel alone at 7:30pm, which prompted the motel staff to check on the room they were staying at.

NPY was reportedly found lying on her stomach, with blood coming out of her mouth and the towel tied around it. The staff immediately reported the finding to the police.

According to a report from Bali Express, the hotel didn’t have any surveillance cameras and the staff didn’t acquire any proof of identity from either guest. The man is believed to be in his 40s and had a full tattoo on his right arm.
