The Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said that the 5.2 magnitude earthquake which struck the south coast of Bali yesterday evening, was only felt in Gianyar regency following an islandwide assessment that was conducted shortly after the quake.

“The result of our assessment showed that only Gianyar regency felt the earthquake, but there was no damage or victims,” Made Rentin, who heads the province’s BPBD, told Radar Bali.

Rentin added that other areas in Bali did not report experiencing tremors, most probably because they were going about their daily activities when the earthquake occurred.

The Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that a 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit south of Bali at 5.47pm on Sunday, following a 5.7-magnitude quake that struck south of Cilacap, Central Java, just 15 minutes earlier.
