Papuan students in Denpasar call for justice, end to discrimination against Papuans
Along with thousands of Indonesians who have taken part in protests throughout the country this week condemning mistreatment and racial abuse against Papuan citizens, dozens of college students in Bali took to the streets of Renon in Denpasar yesterday to demand justice and an end to discrimination against Papuans.

Dead whale washes ashore on beach in Bali’s Buleleng regency
The carcass of what appears to be a pilot whale was discovered on Penimbangan Beach in northern Bali’s Buleleng regency earlier today. The 2.3-meter long mammal was reportedly found covered in wounds.

Minister supports push for renewable energy to meet Bali’s energy demand
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan this week suggested that Bali should produce 350 megawatts (MW) of electricity from renewable energy sources to meet its future energy demand.
According to a statement issued by his ministry, Jonan laid out Bali’s future energy challenge during a visit to the Bali Governor’s office on Wednesday.

School of blacktip sharks spotted swimming near beach in Nusa Dua
A school of sharks was recently spotted near the beach of Nusa Dua’s Peninsula Island. They have reportedly been identified as the blacktip sharks, and, though they are not regarded as highly dangerous to humans, conservation officers have cautioned beachgoers to keep a safe distance.

Police arrest a family of three in Sukawati for allegedly stealing IDR 300 million using a relative’s ATM card
A family of three has been arrested in Bali’s Gianyar regency for allegedly stealing about IDR 300 million (USD 21,061) from a relative’s bank account via ATM. Police said they spent the money over the course of five months on a bunch of items, including a motorcycle, television and refrigerator.
