Beachgoers at Kuta Beach was in for quite a surprise yesterday afternoon, when a 30-year-old man, who has been identified by his initials HS, allegedly brandished a knife and pointed it at random tourists.

Prosecutors demanded the owner and an employee of the Princess House Childcare, where a three-month-old baby died in May of suspected negligence, be sentenced to three and four years in prison, respectively, for violating Indonesia’s child protection law.

Bali’s Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said two foreign passengers died after a boat capsized earlier this morning near Devil’s Tear cove in Nusa Lembongan island, while the ship’s captain is currently being treated for his injuries.

Authorities in Bali have evidently been kept busy handling misbehaving tourists on the island, who seem to be popping up with increasing regularity in the past few months. Most recently, a British woman was detained briefly before she was handed over to immigration after she allegedly caused a scene in Kuta.
