Daryono, BMKG’s head of earthquake and tsunami mitigation division, said in a series of tweets posted shortly after the quake that the tremors had a vast reach due to the quake’s depth, adding that this was a “deep focus earthquake.”

The tremors were reportedly felt across Java and parts of southern Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara. In Bali, tremors were recorded in Kuta and Denpasar as well as Gianyar regency.
