“We demand the judges in Denpasar District Court who are presiding over this case to declare Nicholas Carr guilty for assault and sentence him to four months in prison,” prosecutor I Made Gde Bamaxs Wira Wibowo said yesterday, as quoted by Detik. 

Bamaxs added that Carr’s final sentencing should also be reduced to account for the time he’s been detained in prison.

Twenty-six-year-old Carr was arrested in August after he fly-kicked a Balinese man, who has been identified as I Wayan Wirawan, off the latter’s scooter in the middle of traffic in Bali. 

The moment was captured in a spectacular video, which quickly became viral and sparked a multitude of reactions from netizens, both in Australia and Indonesia. 

Wirawan, who miraculously suffered only minor injuries from the incident, said last week that he forgave Carr for what he did. 

At the Denpasar District Court yesterday, Carr expressed another apology and regret for his actions. 

“I am sorry and regretful of what I have done, and to everyone who has been affected by what I did. I respect the victim for coming to court and giving a statement,” Carr was quoted as saying. 

He added that he was not able to recall what he did that night, and hopes that he will be given a light sentence. 

Carr was reportedly under the influence of alcohol that night, and he claimed to have drank about 20 to 30 glasses of vodka. 

Under Indonesia’s criminal code, Carr could face a maximum sentence of two years and eight months in jail for his alleged assault on Wirawan.
