Officials from the Animal Health Department in Jembrana finally managed to capture a wild monkey in Negara sub-district of Jembrana yesterday, after it has reportedly been worrying local residents for the past month as it roamed freely around the area.

“We captured it by luring it to the cage with a female monkey. And it works; it just so happens that a local resident has a female pet monkey,” Rai Mulyawan, an official from the Jembrana Animal Health Department, told Kumparan

The wild monkey, which is apparently male, was then sedated, before being handed over to the local chapter of the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) for a short quarantine.

Mulyawan said the animal will be released back to the wild afterwards.

The monkey has reportedly been a concern for residents in Jembrana for the past month, because it has been entering people’s homes and even a government building in Jembrana.
