A prosecutor at the Denpasar Court yesterday demanded that Adi Aprianto, a man from Lampung who was arrested in June for allegedly attacking and attempting to sexually assault a woman in Denpasar, be sentenced to 7 years in prison.

“The defendant tried to sexually assault and attack the victim on Tuesday, June 11 at 1.10pm. We urge the panel of judges to sentence him to 7 years in prison,” prosecutor Putu Oka Surya Atmaja said.

In a statement shortly after his arrest, the Bali Police previously identified Adi Aprianto as Dwi Apriyanto. Adi is the name used in a more recent report of the case from Tribun-Bali.

The Bali Police arrested Adi in June, after he allegedly attacked a woman, identified by her initials KCM, with a hammer and stabbed her with scissors after she caught him peeping in her bathroom.

In the report from Tribun-Bali, Adi is said to have admitted that he’d peeped on KCM for some time. When the incident occurred, KCM was taking a shower in her boarding house. She was just about to step out of her bathroom after hearing some noises when Adi slipped from his vantage point and fell on top of her.

Startled by the unexpected turn of events, Adi allegedly hit KCM in the head with a hammer, choked her and even stabbed her with scissors, leaving KCM unconscious before she could manage to seek help. Thankfully, a neighbor heard her screams before she fainted and was able to find her, after which she took KCM to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
