Sarah Ayu Tamaela, a young shooting athlete from Bali, ranked first in the Lady Open and Shoot Off categories at the 2019 CZ Extreme Euro Open international shooting competition in the Czech Republic on Sunday.

This year, around 1,200 people from 50 countries participated in the CZ Extreme Euro Open, which is held annually in June. Indonesia was represented by a total of eight shooting athletes, including Sarah Ayu.

“I am very happy with what I’ve accomplished. I may have won, but I’m not yet satisfied. I’ll continue to practice to participate in other competitions,” Sarah Ayu said, according to a press release issued by the Bali Police yesterday.

Sarah Ayu is an athlete with the IPSC Perbakin Bali, which is part of the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association.

Earlier this year, she ranked first in the Open Division Lady Category at Thailand’s IPSC National Handgun Championship and won first place in the Open Division at the 2019 Iskandar Shoot in Malaysia.

In an interview with KompasTV, Sarah Ayu said she’s been shooting since she was a young kid.

“I’ve gone hunting with my father since I was a kid, and without realizing, shooting had already become a part of my life,” Sarah Ayu said.
