A tourist in Bali went missing yesterday in the Mushroom Bay Beach area on Nusa Lembongan during a paddleboarding session out on the sea.

Aviv Meshil, a 23-year-old tourist from the United States, may have gone too far to the middle of the ocean while he was paddleboarding, according to a report from Kompas.com.

“The victim may have been having too much fun while he was paddleboarding. According to witnesses, this may have happened around 2.30 p.m. He has not been seen since then,” Head of Operations at Bali’s Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), I.B. Surya Wirawan said in a press release today, as quoted by Kompas.com.

Basarnas Bali immediately conducted a search and rescue operation upon receiving reports from local residents, which continued on earlier this morning.

Last month, a tourist in Bali reportedly went missing after he was swept away by a huge wave in the spectacular but extremely dangerous Devil’s Tear cove on Nusa Lembongan, while he was taking a selfie. Authorities reportedly eventually stopped searching after a week.
