They broke the glass [to enter] and then they took the drugs,” Denpasar Police Chief Jansen Avitus Panjaitan said yesterday.

The robbery took place in the early hours of Saturday, Jansen said. Police seized about hundreds of sedative tablets, among other drugs, as well as a mobile phone and cash taken from the register during the arrest.

The suspects allegedly intended to sell the drugs to local stalls, but were arrested before they managed to do so. In addition, police say the suspects were not aware of the types of medicines they had taken during the robbery.

Under Indonesia’s criminal code (KUHP), the suspects face a maximum sentence of five years in prison for robbery.
